I did this last weekend. It was so goddamn awesome. The Imperial sand dunes may be one of the most Jalop places in the world.

Sand Dunes ARE the most Jalop place in the world. I am particularly fond of (re: close to) Silver Lake Sand Dunes in SW Michigan.
They are situated right on the shores of Lake Michigan, and it is a haven for just about anything that can travel by land or water.

You could definitely make a case. Everyone at the Imperial dunes is a straight up car nut. In one weekend, I helped rebuild a 1968 VW transmission while laying in the dirt and using nothing but hand tools, remounted a tire onto the rim by pouring gas on the rim and setting it on fire, did wheelies and touched 100 mph over big ass bumps (they call 'em 'whoops') on a rim cracked damn near into two pieces, and saw so many death-defying stunts that it wasn't even shocking by the 2nd day. Place is insane.
